If my memory serves, the armor exotics every season are tied tot he actual expansion, not the season. Regardless, I wouldn't be surprising if it was just weighted like lost sectors, not actually knockout. Same. There's only one area a day where it can spawn. When a public event appears in that area there is a small percentage chance that it will be the vex strike force. On days where terminal overload is in the same area, there will be no strike forces. You can follow a discord/twitter bot to get notified a few minutes before it begins.
