There is a good possibility that the rifle started out as a barrelled action made by FN in Belgium and was completed by a gunsmith as a custom rifle. The "B" is most likely a series number and does not stand for Belgium. The barrel and mauser action were indeed made in Belgium and has the proof markings to show that it was.
