Mar 29, 2012 · proper wiring of alternator. I have 79 cj7 304. Re-wired my alternator to be a one wire but can seem to charge below 2000rpm. This is what I have done. Connected red wire to red wire going to starter solenoid on battery positive side. The alternator is a brand new and so is the wiring harness going into the back/side of the alternator.

BTW, Per Quadratec, the JKS quick disconnects for 2.5-6" of lift should work with my EMU 2.5" lift kit, so I think I'm going to go for them. The RC's I woudl also assume would work since they are for 4" lift and up. I don't need the "quicker disconnects" as I won't be disconnecting them much, if ever. Thanks.

ALL 4.0 engines use the same belt. If the vehicle was an "AC delete", an idler pulley was put in place of the compressor. And-----there is NO WAY to "reroute" a shorter belt to bypass the need for the idler pulley. This topic comes up about every 2 months, and the answer is always the same---get a new/used compressor, or get a AC delete idler.The fuel pump will need a power feed going to it. The OEM one isn't going to work anymore due to the motor etc being out of it. You will need to provide the fuel pump relay with another source of switched power, as the Jeep ECM is not providing one now.
